WTVJ Reporter Gilma Avalos Moves On to Texas

Add WTVJ reporter Gilma Avalos to the list of those moving out and on to bigger and better things. She’s now with Dallas CBS-owned KTVT which hired her as their new weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter. A native of South Florida Avalos joined NBC 6 three years ago as reporter from News 12 New York.

In a Facebook post Avalos announced her move and thanked viewers for their trust and support.

Big News! After 3 great years in South Florida, I’m heading to the Lone Star State for an exciting opportunity! I’ll be joining the CBS11 team in Dallas-Fort Worth as an anchor and reporter.
Thank you for your trust and support. I am so lucky to have worked in my hometown alongside very kind and talented colleagues. This isn’t goodbye, I’ll be visiting often! Hope you’ll follow me on my journey.

VIDEO: I Won’t Get on Stage With That Fan

Unless you live under a rock, you probably heard what happened last night at the Governor debate moderated by WFOR anchor Eliott Rodriguez. In what looked like an SNL skit, Governor Rick Scott refused to get on stage for several minutes because Charlie Crist had a fan under his podium then lied it was because he was waiting for Charlie Crist to get on stage.

And here’s WTVT FOX13 in Tampa on the Gov’s habit of not answering questions

POTD: Are You Joshin Me?

Someone at WFOR managing the Facebook page accidentally referred to Michael Phelps as Josh Phelps in a post about the swimming star’s DUI arrest. There is a Josh Phelps however, but he’s a former MLB first baseman.

40 minutes later someone edited the post but not before viewers chimed in with snarky comments.
