Living it up no more

0

Tonight was the official last segment of “Living it up with Jackie Johnson”
And no, lucky for some guys and girls, Jackie’s not going anywhere, just no more cheerleading in skimpy outfits. Anyone who wishes can still watch her during the morning news on 7.
No mention yet if they’ll give her a new segment

Ch12 decides Entertainment Tonight is much better for you than dear old Dan

0

Yes, they did.
WPEC pre-empted Dan Rather’s newscast on Thursday to run Entertainment Tonight because the program would have been canceled at it’s usual time 7:30pm for the basketball game thus “News”12 would have lost some money.
The station’s phones were ringing hot from irked viewers and probably some very very angry suits from the CBS mothership

Let the rumors begin

0

Rumor is because of the poor performance of WPLG, Post-Newsweek is looking to unload it from it’s portfolio and are currently in negotiation with FOX Television Stations. Newscorp have been happy with their affiliation with WSVN, despite the station behaving like an independent more often than like an obidiant affiliate, but FOX have also made it known they really want to own a station in South Florida and since Ed Ansin won’t sell his they might just buy WPLG. If that rumor is true of course.
This would once again create a huge shakeup and n it would leave WSVN to save itself yet again. It will have to switch affiliations for a 3rd time and become an ABC affiliate, but it won’t happen for once simple reason – owner Ed Ansin won’t abandon the 10pm slot which brings the most cash for the station, so most likely they’ll again become an independent station. And with 8 and a half hours of news daily and only 8pm to 10pm FOX network programing 7 already could be considered an indy station anyways

Guess we’ll have to wait and see

New people old people for 7

It might have to do with recent ratings, but then it might not, 7News has a “new” ND (news director). Tom Gonzalez-Diego who previously worked as an Assistant News Director took the reins from long-time ND Alice Jacobs. She on the other hand has been promoted to Vice President of News and Programming and will oversee the news operations for both WSVN and WHDH.
7News has been seeing a lot of ratings decline lately and this move might have a lot to do with it. Additionally there’s talk some people over there have made up their minds to leave the station. Namely Brian Andrews who’s contract expires in May of 2004. If that happens one can only wonder what the suits (and skirts) over there have been drinking, considering the election is getting near and losing Brian and others would be a huge negative.
