All this hype and something’s missing. 4 and 10 are preempting programs to repeat incesantly about Hurricane Charley. NBC6 are only doing hourly updates and they left Ellen intact for whicn they should be comented and congratulated for not falling into the hurricane vortex. Oddly the station you would most likely pick as the lead of hurricane hype is missing in action. 7news has been doing updates only during scheduled news breaks, and the last one was just 10 seconds long. Times change

It’s no big deal but let us break into regular programing to bring you this update, Hurricane Charley has moved by a mile, brace for impact. We also thought we’d pre-empt Dr Phil, sbustitute it with Oprah and have news at 4pm. Watching this hurricane coverage hubub leaves me wondering – is the hurricane this big of a threat or are the stations trying to outdo each other? And make some money while they’re at it? 4’s hurricane hotline sponsor and 10s weather alert sponsor must be feeling jolly right about now having their names mentioned oh about 5 times an hour. Thankfully we live in the age of 150 cable channels and internet porn so there’s gotta be something anything but the hurricane reports.

WFOR is going ape over the tropical storm Charley. It’s 24 minutes past 12pm and they’re going on and on and on and on. Even their phone-bank is open and Rob Hanrahan is anchoring with Ileana Varela. If you haven’t seen the weather forecast you’d think we’ll be hit tomorrow and all life will go extinct. WTVJ couldn’t fall behind either they preempted the first 15 minutes of whatever runs at 12pm, 7 and 10 only had about 14 minutes of coverage and moved on with other stuff
