Off to war

The channel is Discovery (Discovery Times) the program is Off To War. It follows Arkansas National Guard unit transfered to Iraq. For anyone who still hasn’t gotten it thru their thick scull that what you see on TV is not a game or a movie, but a real fucked up situation that actually involves real people – either someone’s son, dad, brother who go there not because they want to but because they had to. It’s the story of those who bit on the National Guard’s “1 weekend a month 2 weeks a year” sales pitch only to be sent half a world away to find their death. It’s quite moving, and it’s not narrated, the soldiers speak for themselves

TV Markets Updates

The DMA markets have been updated. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is still at #17, however Boston is now ranked as #5 from #6 last year displacing San Francisco.

How much are they making?

0

Not that it’s any of my business, but my curiousity is getting the best of me as usual. I’m wondering how much money are the lead anchors making in this market? It’s said that Dwight Lauderdale’s 5 year contract is in the mid-six-figures, which if I guesstimate to be $500,000 that’s $100,000/year. Call me jaded but that seems like yellow pennies to me, I thought it would be $500Gs a year instead. No? Maybe I’m confusing the markets. Anyone? Info? Insiders?
