WPLG are adding another member to their team.
After three years in Indianapolis Eric Yutzy is trading snow for sun and joining Local 10 as sports reporter news anchor from NBC affiliate WTHR. He was the weekend sports anchor there.
His first day at WPLG is today.
It didn’t take long but WTVJ got a new General Manager. Larry Olevitch, formerly senior vice president of sales at WTVJ, takes over for Manuel Martinez who NBC promoted to Telemundo stations president at the end of last year.
Olevitch comes with loads of sales experience. He started his career at WEWS in 1983, spent 5 years at WPTV in Palm Beach as a local sales manager then moved to NBC as Senior Vice President of Local Media overseeing the ad teams at all NBC-owned TV stations.
The WSVN reporting team is growing. The station added another general assignment reporter, Lorena Estrada. She’s a local girl, a graduate of Florida International University, and comes back home after three years at CBS affiliate WVLT in Knoxville, TN. In 2009 and 2010 Estrada interned at WFOR and WTVJ.
Estrada is WSVN’s sixteenth general assignment reporter if you exclude Shireen Sandoval, Patrick Frasier, Carmel Cafiero, and Louis Aguirre
I noticed a tweet from @BillyCorben that the teacher leading the television production class at South Dade Senior High School in Homestead is raising money on DonorsChoose.org for new camera equipment for his students. As of this writing the fundraiser is about half-way trough its goal, and needs another $558 to get fully funded.
