WSVN Goes Live With New Hurricane Set

WSVN really loves virtual sets. The new hurricane virtual set went live just in time for Arthur’s arrival. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the old weather set with a giant circle 7 on the floor and lots of moving elements.

We’d like to see them render the 7 different. Right now I wonder whether Phil Ferro would trip or not

Construction Set to Begin on New WPLG News Set

So WPLG is finally getting that new set SFLTV first told you about in December. After today’s newscasts are over the current set will be hauled away into the dumpster to make way for what’s coming.

As we reported back in December rumor has it the new set will be an open newsroom, serving as the backdrop for the news anchors, that would look similar to the current WPBF set or some sort of a mash-up between the WPBF set and what WSVN’s newsplex used to look like circa 2001-2005. We don’t have to wait long to see whether that’s all true but we’d like to see Channel 10 finally make use of that giant space they’ve been inhabiting.

The new set should make its debut sometime in July

According to Johnny Diaz from Sun Sentinel game 2 on Local 10 had a whopping 816,000 viewers, with game 1 scoring 791,000 viewers. Channel 10’s pre-game shows managed 323,000 and 214,000 viewers for game 1 and 2 respectively scoring better than ABC courtside.

Heat and WPLG won the ratings game
