Watch WPEC Reporter Josh Repp Bag a Live Python

WPEC CBS 12 reporter Josh Repp was doing a story on Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission’s python permitting program which trains applicants how to capture Burmese pythons in a bag. And what better way to illustrate to viewers how it’s done than to stick one of the slithery into a bag yourself, right? Well as you might imagine the python wasn’t about to go gracefully into the bag just because the TV camera was on.

VOTD: WPLG’s Worldcup Coverage NSFW Moment

Last night during WorldCup coverage, WPLG sports reporter Clay Ferraro was live on the air surrounded by a rowdy crowd of people when this happened:

Yep, this guy yelled fuck her right in the pussy and without a bleep.

Turns out his choice of words wasn’t random.

Fuck her right in the pussy is an internet meme that started with a fake news video by some supposed film maker from Ohio. The video somewhat convincingly fakes a live shot in which a reporter can be seen being unaware he’s live on the air while talking about about a missing woman and how he’d like to fuck her right in the pussy when she’s found.

WLTV Gets Its Own News Helicopter

WLTV Gets Its Own News Helicopter

Things must be really swell over at WLTV Univision 23 because they are now operating their own news helicopter, which makes them one of only two TV stations in Miami to splurge on a full-time chopper, the other being WSVN with 7 Skyforce.

WLTV is saving a bit of money though. Vision 23, as they call it, is a Bell Ranger 206L-3 which is smaller, and no doubt cheaper to operate, than the Bell 407s that are Skyforce and Sky10. Another way WLTV is offsetting the costs of operating the helicopter is by having a local car dealer sponsor it. The helicopter is owned and operated by Helicopters Inc. which also fly for WSVN and WPLG. Another interesting tidbit we found is that this chopper used to fly for Tampa’s WTSP.

We are somewhat surprised to see the station go for their own helicopter because several months ago sources told us that WLTV may be joining the Sky10 pool with WFOR, WTVJ, and WPLG. However, we hear that one of the pool requirements says that a station has to ask permission from every station in the pool before they can dispatch the chopper out to a story, so it’s not hard to see why WLTV decided it may be better to go it alone. And bragging rights of course. WLTV is airing that Vision 23 promo you can watch below.

Which reminds me, why hasn’t Channel 7 made a big deal out of having their own news helicopter?!

VOTD: He’s Kevin Ozebek, Powered by Caffeine

WSVN reporter Kevin Ozebek is usually seen on afternoons and evenings, he also gets to play on the anchor desk from time to time when one of the anchors has the day off. Last weekend Kevin got to substitute for Jeff Lennox on Saturday morning, which meant he had to wake up at some ungodly hour and try to keep himself awake for the next several hours of Today in Florida. Before the show he posted this video on Facebook showing viewers how he stays awake and alert during the newscasts, and naturally it involves a big dose of caffeine.

For those of you keeping score, that’s over 300mg of caffeine

The WSVN Newsplex Is Set For a Revamp

The WSVN Newsplex Is Set For a Revamp

Several tipsters tell SFLTV that WSVN is in the process of revamping the newsplex which is now in its fifth year since its last renovation that took place back in 2009 before the station went HD.

We have scant details to go buy, and information is conflicting, but the prevailing info we hear is that the revamp will be mostly cosmetic, similar to what Sunbeam did with its other station in Boston, WHDH, which just received a barely noticeable refresh with a darker red duratrans strip and some more monitors as backdrops on the second floor that quite honestly don’t look that impressive.

We’re kind of sad to report that there is a possibility the big wall of old CRT televisions, which have been there literally since the 1990s, will finally give way to big flat screens that will use software to simulate the tiny wall of TVs we’ve become used to seeing behind the anchors. After the WHDH newsplex revamp took place their morning newscasts have featured clouds on the monitor wall (pic below) which to be quite honest we’re not big fans of but we’ll have to wait and see what they come up with down here.

WHDH Newsplex 2014 refresh

Right now our best guess for when the changes will take place is maybe aroud September, or in time for November sweeps at the latest.
