Well it was a matter of time before it happened again.
7 have started stretching the 4:3 feed on the digital channel again, but this time it’s not anamorphic like WPL, leaving the center of the picutre normal and stretching the sides, it’s just a 4;3 stretched to fit 16:9 format.
I was just watching 7 stretched… the graphics look great stretched… but I’m not a fan of stretched people though.
I hate to say “I told you so”, but… (see my post under the ‘Eek’ thread)
However, I have to admit though – WSVN-DT’s not using the anamorphic stretch like the rocket scientists at WPLG-DT. They’re using a plain, old linear stretch like the brainiacs at WLRN-DT, at least for now.
Gotta love the management mentality at these stations: “Well, since we’re not actually broadcasting any real local HD content, let’s fool the morons that watch our station and just s-t-r-e-t-c-h the picture to make it look like it’s wide-screen. Half of them will never even notice the difference, but they’ll think it’s great because the screen’s full…”
Unreal.
I am so glad this was brought up. For a minute there, I thought there was something wrong with my tv or cable system. I think the way the picture is all distorted is horrible and just plain stupid. I don’t have widescreen tvs and if they continue doing this, I will just not watch WSVN anymore. It’s ridiculous.
If you don’t have a widescreen TV Charles you shouldn’t see a difference….
You can’t watch the HD feed on a standard TV.
0k since were talking about wsvn ch.7 i was really wondering when will svn air their new graphics u guys were talking about a couple of months ago? and their website was also supposed to change like in june or july what about that too?
No idea, I suspect they’re pretty busy with other things
