Tipster says Matt Lorch has been moved to weekends and will now anchor the weekend newscasts at 6pm and 11pm! Untill now Matt was co-anchoring with Laurie Jennings the 5:30p weekday newscast on WPLG, and also filled-in for Dwight Lauderdale whe he wasn’t there.
Interesting move on 10’s part considering many thought Matt Lorch was being groomed to eventually take over Dwight Lauderdale’s place.
Also, Megan Glaros is temporarily going national. She will be going to Good Morning America to anchor the weekend show for a couple weeks
This isn’t really that surprizing. From what I understand, CH 10 is getting ready to get rid of their 5PM news alltogether. However, this still puts Lorch as Lauderdale’s eventual successor. Unless Mark Schumacher is the one, Lorch would still be second to Lauderdale.
What am I going to do now? My to favorite anchormen (Joel Connable & Matt Lorch) are going “head to head” on the weekends. Who will I be watching? Well, I guess my DVD-R will be working overtime on the weekends.
Too bad to see that WPLG has not decided to “freshen up” their night newscast by replacing Dwight with Matt. Matt and Laurie are a great team together and I was hoping this would be the year for Dwight’s retirement. Oh well…I guest NOT!

Matt and Neki — I don’t like either one. His voice is incredibly annoying, and she doesn’t have a clue. The other stations are in luck over this one. Matt should never replace Dwight. I’d take Dwight or Mark any day over Lorch.
Lorch sucks. He is so freakin fake. He makes all these weird entonations with his voice. I’m glad he’s been moved off the main shows. And don’t look at 10 getting rid of Dwight anytime soon. His big-money contract isn’t up for several years!
Every station needs a pretty boy. Apparently, that’s Matt Lorch for 10, although I’d put my money on Will Manso. What’s gonna happen to him?
What on God’s green earth does anyone see in Matt Lorch, first he does not follow the rules of anchorman 101; come across as sincere. It seems as if there is absolutely no connection with him and viewers, maybe the powers at 10 realized this-finally! I agree with patmedown all the way. Will Manso is a perfect fit for the weekends, mornings and evenings. I actually think Nikki is getting better; voice and grooming-she was looking a tad tight and unkept for a minute.

Oh my gosh, this Jenny Chapman girl always brags about Wendy. Get over it!! Ratings were terrible with Wendy and have spiked with Kristi as well as with Yvonne. And if Dwight’s so terrible, how come they are number one at 6pm and 11pm? Enough with the Wendy deal, the station was going to fire her if she didn’t leave, so that obviously says something.

Manso is WAYYYYYYYYYYY better than Lorch. There’s no comparison.
Will Manso is the best choice for weekends and if TPTB eventually replace Dwight, who better than Will to fill his shoes!

I agree with the posters Kirsten and Jodie. Will Manso is way better than Matt Lorch. When Will speaks, its like he is speaking to you. There is a sense of sincerity Will has when he speaks that few here is South Florida have.Maggie Rodriguez of 4 is the only other one. Hey CBS 4, ya listening? Will and Maggie at 11?.
Ok first… Matt Lorch is amazing. Second… what’s with all the praise for Manso. I hate him as an anchor. He was good back when he did sports, but I was appalled when WPLG decided to replace the amazing Doug Dunbar with Will Manso.
It all happened after Kelly Cobiella (who was also good to be so young) got the DUI. Cobiella got the boot as did Dunbar, and 5:30 became Manso and Gwen Belton! Terrible. Send Manso back to sports! … but we can’t bring back Dunbar (as he’s doing well at CBS11 in Dallas). For now let’s be glad Lorch got a good position as WPLG gets ready to drop the 5pm hour this fall.

gwen = sucks really bad (and has scary voice)
doug dunbar = never really a fan, but better than matt lorch

Jodie, I agree with you, except I believe Gwen is a great story teller-albeit, I just wish she would just give one good cough and then spit for crying out loud! Wendy was not the best anchor, by a long shot, but she has great camera presence. And, yes, Will is good at the weekends-I don’t believe he has a strong enough presence to carry the five, six and eleven during the week. It was a dumb move for WPLG to get rid of Kelly and Doug (Doug would have been an easy fill in and replacement for Dwight).
Not too sure about Will Manso. If he does become weekend anchor, eventually he’ll move to being a weekday anchor, and (essentially) become the next Tony Segreto. Not that I don’t want Will to anchor. It’s just that people don’t really like Tony nowadays (some people think he was better with sports), and the same thing may happen to Will.
Also, Lorch is meh. He catches my attention, but not the best anchor in the world. I barely remember Dunbar, but he’s a much better anchor.
Oh, forgot to add…
I doubt that Corona will get KPRC out of third place. Besides that, if jenny chapman simply “loves” Wendy Corona, she should move to Houston.
First off…Lorch does not suck. He is very solid, and CH. 10 will miss him if he leaves. As for Manso, I’ve said it before, he’s a very good anchor, but I still think he likes sports better. He just seems to have more fun doing it.
They are both young talents, but if 10 is dropping so much news, I don’t see either having much of a big future there. I think they could both get other jobs in Miami without a problem.
Maybe Jenny Chapman is really Wendy Carona??? lol
NOT TO JC: I personally have no problem with Wendy – I liked her, but to everyone else that dosent – who cares? shes gone now, if she comes back, we can care again.
Oh, perhaps Jenny can get her Wendy fix by watching her online, I dont know what station shes at now, but maybe they have online video?

lorch is the best. i’ve been following him through his whole career from quincy to boise to baltimore to miami and now boston. i live in boston so i am thrilled to be able to watch him here. he is incredibly sincere and engaged with his viewers. whdh 7 wisely recognized him as a strong asset to their team. welcome to boston, matt.
