Wilma Huge Hurricane

15

this is something i’ve never seen. Wow
I’ve slept only 3 hours and woke up with the hurricane already arrived.

I felt the building vibrate while on the bed, the roof you can really hear it getting pushed by the wind. Transformers are blowing left and right. The sky is turqoize blue.

And we haven’t seen the most of it yet.

The digital feeds for all local stations are down, they all must be on generators by now. It’s a miracle we have power.

Hope and pray the people in trailor homes are riding it out okay, this hurricane is definitly bad

More later if my laptop cooperates and I have power

  1. Today I noticed it for the first time a whole lot. I think it’s being tired, and being more natural/off the cuff than being the the studio environment where you feel things are very controlled. I know when I go out of the studio and out of normal situations and into wall to wall events like this my accent comes through a lot more as well.

  2. It has been in studio also, for a few weeks now, I like it, not complaining, just wondering what brought it on, probably true about the tired thing though.

  3. Maybe they want her to be more latin. It’s not unheard of at all. KYW in Philly sent a reporter to New York for an image makeover so she would look more asian on air.

  4. what reporter was this that was sent to NYC for an “asian” makeover
im from NJ and just curious
    any ideas. thnx.
    stay well south flordia!

  5. Im still without power. Today is day number 5. Both channels 4 and 7 have been off the air for long periods of time. 7 has been having A LOT of problems. I watched channel 10 a lot. I never watch channel 10, but it came in crystal clear at my house and they never went off the air that I saw. I’m watching tvj now (tv, computer and dsl plugged into the generator). It’s Pam Bob and Lonnie and they are finally ending the seriousness. They are bringing more humor back to the news and I really like that. I’ve pretty much given up on 7 though. They have been off the air too much for me.

    Hope everyone is OK.
Good luck getting your power back everyone.

  6. i watched 10 alot too this time… trent eric and don know are real good together. jennings was a star. really enjoyed 10 even though i usually watch 7 – very well done

  7. Since I am in Chicago I have to watch online, CBS4 IMO has done excellent coverage, I have only been able to watch 7’s feed sporadically (now i know they were off the air, I thought it was just because their servers suck). In any case, hope all of you that are in the area are doing well, and if anyone is looking at this from Broward, was there a lot of damage near Pines and Palm? It’s where I used to live and I am curious.

  8. I live in Broward and I don’t know about that location but Broward was hit BADDD. Only like 20-something % of people in broward have thier power back. And yesterday there were only 20 traffic lights working in the ENTIRE COUNTY! That number is much higher now, but I don’t know what it is.

  9. Re: Beatriz’s accent–I noticed that also, particularly when she was doing a report from a gas station somewhere in Dade and she interviewed a man who only spoke Spanish, so she had to keep switching between English and Spanish. I figured that was why her accent came out more, but it might have been the fatigue factor.

As far as damage at Pines Blvd/Palm Ave–I live not far from there and last Friday, which was the first time I passed by there after the storm, it looked pretty bad. I think a power pole fell over completely, blocking the southbound lanes on the southbound side of Pines Blvd. Of course the signals were all out, and the police had Palm Av blocked off completely south of Pines. The intersection since has been cleared, and the signals are working (possiblt powered by a generator).
