Rick Sanchez Said Things Yesterday

UPDATE: news is hitting the web that CNN has fired Rick Sanchez!

There’s a big brouhaha cooking up today with former WSVN anchor Rick Sanchez at its center. He was on an XM radio show and may have said a few things that some people may not like. Like… Jon Stewart is a bigoted, then took it back and swapped it for prejudicial and uninformed. Oh and that, um, CNN and the media is run by jews.

Oh snap!

Sanchez was making a point that not only right wingers are prejudiced and said that in his experience many “elite, Northeast establishment liberals” think of people like him (Hispanics and minorities) as less than, who belongs in “the second tier”, and can’t relate to someone like Sanchez who comes from a working family. He gave an example from a conversation he had with someone at CNN who told him he thought Sanchez should be a reporter, like John Quinones from ABC, rather than a CNN anchor. Sanchez called out Jon Stewart and Colbert flipped to opinion the person essentially said Sanchez said ‘Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart was bigoted toward everybody else not like him and not from his frame of reference.

Sanchez: I think Jon’s show is essentially prejudicial.
Host: Against who?
Sanchez: Against anybody who doesn’t agree with his point of view. Which is very much a white, liberal, establishment point of view. He can’t relate to a guy like me. He can’t relate to a guy whose dad worked all his life, he can’t relate to someone who grew up poor

Rick Sanchez’ perhaps most controversial remarks come at around the 9th minute in the audio above:

Sanchez: I think he is one of those left-wing, Northeast establishment guys who says ‘I like black people and mexicans as long as they’re right there’ […] but as soon as you do something or develop any kind of character they push you down.

[…]

Host: Stewart’s a minority as much as you are

Sanchez: he … he … come on

Host: He’s Jewish

Sanchez: Yeah… yeah, very powerless people. you’re such a minority, you know. Please. Are you kidding?

Host: You’re telling me that…

Sanchez: I am telling you that everyone who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart. And a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply somehow that they, the people in this country who are jewish, are opressed minority… yeah.

So lefties are prejudiced and most execs in media are jews. In other news, the gay mafia runs SFLTV (true by the way)

  1. When Rick was at 7 he had the worst reputation with his coworkers. At a break, none of the floor people would say a single word to him. For those of you who “have worked in the business” you know you really have to be hated for that to happen, Rick was! Rick was all for himself and the hell with everyone else, a complete opposite of the way he acts on the air, much like Larry King….total phonies.

  2. Hi Mitch,

I never liked him as an on-air personality. He has always come across as arrogant to me. I was glad when he left the local news. I recall he had some type of talk show at one point, and it was a huge failure. I don’t understand how he keeps his job as a news man.

  3. Mr. Ansin, I know you left an open door for him if he ever wanted to come back, but if I see his face on your station, I’m tuning out. As a Jew, you should be offended by his comments. Sanchez is a joke.
