  1. blah, blah, blah.

Each station did the same. 24 hours of repeating information. – I can make my cd player do the same.

I, on the other hand, would check in to weather.com or the Hurricane Center website to get the latest info. – every couple of hours or so. In the meantime, I focused on other things I needed to do.

My vote for “best” coverage would be the station which has a radar/sat loop with a ticker for the information and their regular shows airing. That’s all a person needs. Do we really need to see Reporter no. 89 standing in the rain saying s/he is getting wet? – or a tree limb just fell?

  2. Belkys was baffling most of the time. Not knowing what to say. Craig had to be supplying here with words. 10 did a good job. 4 also did well. I will probably give 4 the edge because of the anchors.

  3. Channel 4 was excellent. I thought they had the best stuff. Brian Norcross is simply Mr. Hurricane… and their reporters in the field really brought home the story. Brian Andrews rocks.

  4. 4’s new slogan, “the most powerful name in LOCAL news,” is stupid, considering Fox News Channel has used “The most powerful name in news” for a long time.

  5. Winner- CBS 4

    2nd Place- 7 NEWS

    3rd Place- Local 10 News

CBS 4 took a more local approach and aired comments viewers made. No names were mentioned. As for the new slogan, it’s not bad at all. Remember CBS 4 is rebounding.

7 NEWS with their flashy ways (not like that is a bad thing) would have been first if 4 did not do the local approach. Otherwise their promo was good. Even though they are number 1 they don’t throw it in front of our faces 24/7.

Local 10 News was very cocky touting experience, even though every South Florida station has “experience.” The background music was “Star Wars” like. If you see their weather promo on FLnewscenter.com, the claim to have the best weather equipment in the nation. Sorry I think CBS 4 has better weather technology.

By the way I am happy you did not post anything from NBC 6 because they need a facelift. Plus NBC should not be so happy because they won most of premiere week, reality sinks in next week! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  6. Overall i thought WSVN did pretty well but WFOR had the coverage hands down. Also i like how they were the only local new station in New Orleans…. I had wonder why SVN didn’t send atlease one of there reporters up there before the strom. In a segway of speaking of WSVN and Hurricanes. Did any one happend to catch the Premire of Invasion on ABC at 10pm on Wednesday? They had pretty much Copyed 7 news. The Slogan on the jackets and mic. for the the “reporter” all had the 7 slogan on it and they were also the “I Team”.

  7. I like the concept behind 4’s promo, however I think it was more weakly executed than some of the others. Also, “the most powerful name in local news” might just be in this promo, who knows. WFOR did do the best job hands down, and their live webcasting while regular programming was over the air was absolutely great. Thank you CBS4.
