As I previously noted, it was sort of a rumor that John Guaraldi will jump from WTVJ to WPLG. Now an alert viewer emailed me to say that yesterday at 2am Megan Glaros introduced Guaraldi to the viewers.
Now you know why he’s not on WTVJ anymore. I’ll try to get around and set the DVR to catch any promos or if he’s on the air today
Whoever emailed, thanks for the tip.
Just so you know i posted that he was reporting the hurricane back on Sept 2. I posted it on the blog about Don Noe’s son..
Anyway…at least we now know where he ended up.. Does seem like they are still giving Trent Eric senior status over him…….he really is doing a great job.
Lol, im glad hes gone, i never liked him anyway.
They intoduced him at 2am? I’m new to the market. Is this the way all new talent is welcomed, or was it a special circumstance because of Rita?
I am confused…all this web chatter about WPLG scaling back but they keep adding people…now five people in weather…I hear they are adding another reporter…it says alot about what you read on these kinds of websites
Yes, I saw John on WPLG. Dont they have to be off the air for a longer period before they can resurface in the same market? I thought his appearance was a bit previous. Unless he got permission to do so because of the circumstances. I dont really like him anyway. Nor do I like the remaining John on WTVJ.
People are disapperaing from 10 but i think they are probably recruiting new reporters to make then worth watching. I trust 97% of what I read on the site. And like admin keep telling the posters, this not the Miami Herald, it’s a damn blog. I love “these kinds of Websites.” This one particularly has earned my trust.
John Gerard, the current lead meteorologist at WTVJ is excellent. Glad he is back in South Florida. He got screwed over at Ch. 10 for Gina Cancelliere – anyone remember her? Ugh.
Guaraldi is a little strange but I like him too. Certainly more credible than Jacey Birch or Megan Glaros who are just window dressing at best.
he was off the air some. My guess is that his non-compete clause was either non-existant or short. Usually non-competes are like 3-6months up to a year even, but that might be more for high-profile people like lead anchors and reporters
WPLG is also expanding their weekend morning news, probably afternoon as well, but the 5/5:30pm is still on track to be taken off the air
I agree with Jamboii above……The admin does a great job keeping us in the loop. I really swear by this blog and check it almost everyday for the latest in news.
he went from 6 to 10 ? Good for him. glad he’s still going to be in the market. he’s got to be the smarest weather guy down here. I wondered what happened when he wasn’t on channel 6 anymore. isn’t he from boston or new york? wonder why he didn’t go there if he stopped working at 6? oh well. 6 is a mess, 10 seems to be moving forward so I guess it’s the place to be.
I like John and thought he was excellent at 6…at least he has some personalty unlike many of the weather people. I wish him the best of luck.
Maybe he stayed in South Florida because his fiancee, WSCV-T51 Reporter/Anchor Claudinne Caro lives here?
John is doing a great job at Channel 10. He is easy to follow and really knows what he is talking about. I like his move and repect the station for staying close to downtown.
nothing.
It seems John left wplg-10 in December, 2011. Anyone hear this and/or know what’s behind it? It was never mentioned on air that I know of. He was 1 of the only reasons I watched that news..
Why was Trent Aric taken off the 6 & 11 PM newscat for his weather portion?
He was excellent and very much admired for his work.
[…] Meteorologist John Guaraldi is now part of the WFOR CBS4 weather team as of this past Sunday. Most recently he was the weekend meteorologist at WPLG for seven years until he left the station January 2012. After coming on board in 1997, Guaraldi left WTVJ in summer 2005 to join WPLG […]
