I just discovered that WSVN are broadcasting “FOX Accuweather Channel” on digital channel 7.2. Which has also been renamed to WSVN-WX. Unfortunately I only have cable so I can’t check it out but if anyone is able to tune 7.2 please let me know more about it.
From what I could see at Brandsmart, where they have the VOOM satellite thing for demos, it’s just their doppler weather map in motion without their logo or anything. Granted, this was a few months ago, so it might’ve changed since then.
This is pretty common, and a lot of markets do this–putting their radar on one of their digital channels.
as of yesterday, it was the 7 day forecast. it seems to be random wx graphics with the main ch 7 audio feed.
Hey, would anybody be able to check if the maps actually change while they do a weather forecast? I’m guessing that the weather computer is just connected directly, and the “random” maps are just where they leave the computer. The 7 day forecast is the last thing they do, so if that was there for a while, then that’s probably it. Just a thought.
