@ricksanchezcnn twitters a lot.
A reader alerted me to one of Sanchez’s recent tweets. While tweeting about celebrating 20th anniversary with his wife away from kids for the first time in several years he followed with
for me, (not for all) but for me, local news got boring.
One of his viewers followed with:
@ricksanchezcnn my favorate stuff about you is how you worked you way up from the scap pit, hurricane duty, under water car escapes, lol
To which Rick responds:
@kindcutesteve yeap, we did some crazy stuff. only thing i didn’t do was get shot out of cannon. wait, got an idea lol
Guess he didn’t take himself so seriously? Hm…
and about that spat with FoxNews… It started with Rick tweeting:
do u know how much money i’d make if i’d sold out as hispanic and worked at fox news, r u kidding, one problem, looking in mirror
….
if i didn’t believe in doing right thing, i’d be rich anchoring at fox news
Then The Huffington Post picked up on it and twisted it out of context with a headline reading Sanchez On Twitter: Hispanics Working For Fox Have “Sold Out,”. FoxNews PR flack responded with its usual bark and bite:
Everyone knows that Rick is an industry joke, he shows that he’s a hack everyday. And he doesn’t have to worry about working at FOX because we only hire talent who have the ability to generate ratings
This is hilarious. I can’t wait for Rick’s response.
I believe Rick would do a great job anywhere he’s hired at
Mr. Sanchez apparently had the day off. 😉
It was pretty irresponsible of him to get into these stupid conversations about Fox News on Twitter and completely unnecessary. Deserves a slap on the wrist to say the least, nothing too public or grand.
Rick Sanchez has always been all about Rick Sanchez.
The news, or whatever, was secondary.
He hasn’t changed one iota.
I think Rick is a great reporter, really. I like that he’s from Miami and a prominent Cuban-American, but I like even more that even though he lacks neutrality, it is so because there are times he really lets loose in a good way- some see him as crazy, but I’ve seen him ask some really tough questions and push the envelope on controversial issues. On a lot of things, he calls it like it is. I’m a fan.
Good for you. He was and is a bombastic idiot-his phrasing is horrible-his only moment worth remembering is when he was tasered. I can’t see that enough. Who cares what his heritage is? Does that have any bearing on his competence?
Used to hate him when he was down here, now I think he’s great. I’m with Abel I.
ya know whats funny if you havent noticed, it they have rick on against another former WSVNer: Shepard Smith hosts Studio B on FNC at 3pm. wonder if that’s on purpose.
Chuck. heritage is everything when it comes to local tv. Can you name me one white female reporter on WTVJ ? The idea canidate for a local tv station is a black latin female. Nicky Mohan, I always wondered how could anyone ever put her on the air, no less letting her anchor the news.
Mitch. Does it really matter if they’re female or male? Its probably up to you to really care if the person your watching is white, black, asian or hispanic.
But you got me curious, so I went on to look at their talent.
WTVJ has…
10 white
5 hispanic
4 black
1 asian
WFOR has..
14 white
5 hispanic
5 black
1 asian
WSVN has…
16 white
12 hispanic
4 black
WPLG has…
White 18
Hispanic 5
Black 4
Your ideal latina or black woman is the minority in news talent and not that much popular when focusing on anchors.
