Just a quick update: NBC’s Sunday political talk show ‘Meet the Press’ has moved to 9AM on Sunday mornings. Not quite sure as of the full reason why.

Today Show Update: Last week we reported that the Sunday edition of NBC’s ‘Today Show’ was expanding. It appears as if that expansion was a temporary one time thing. They were back to taking the 1 hour option this past Sunday.

  1. There is no 2nd hour option on sunday!! The only reason there was a second hour last weekend was because Meet the Press wasnt on that day. Most markets play MTP at 9AM. NY, LA and Miami used to be the exception, not any more for Miami.

        • Honestly, I haven’t looked into it. However, if you watched last Sunday, you would have seen then do two hours of different content. They had an intro at the 7AM hour, and another one at the 8AM hour. Both were up to date (“This is ‘Today,’ for Sunday yada yada) and both featured different content.

The option, to my understanding, is a lot like taking the option for the weekday fourth hour. WESH in Orlando chooses to air Regis and Kelly rather than ‘Today’s Kathy Lee $ Hoda.’ My best guess is this “first hour” of the Sunday ‘Today Show’ is mainly seen and used in small markets with out weekend morning/weekend news.

          • I understand what your saying about the fourth hour. And I saw the 2 hour today show last weekend when MTP was not on. The first hour was aired at 8AM (the normal Sunday 8AM hour) then the second hour, with a slightly different open, but stil primarily news at 9AM. My point is this – I do not believe that the Sunday second hour is a regular occurrence. WTVJ aired a second hour of the Sunday show about a month to two months ago, and it corresponded with another Sunday where MTP was not on. And Im only speculating with what I have seen, but even in small markets with no local news on weekends, I have only seen a one hour Sunday show.

  2. Anytime you want to hear “the facts”, not just a one sided conversation. you tune in this program. I’m just glad they are not cutting this show !

  3. Adam Kuperstein (WTVJ) is now reporting news in the field. I wonder how long it will take before he fills in for doing the weather?
