So WPEC like an anxious early adopter pushed the off button on analog TV on Monday.
Today the rest of the 1025 TV stations in the US still broadcasting analog will do it too.
Officially the transition time is 9am but stations around the country and locally in South Florida will be doing it at different times, some at the last minute, literally.
TCPalm.com says WPBF will push the off button at 11:59pm on Friday night. WPTV will do it at 5:45am, or rather did it since it’s already happened by the time you’re reading this post.
No info on what the Miami stations are doing but it looks to be happening at 9am (ish?)
Also all stations are running phone banks for viewers to call in with any questions they may have about the transition.
WPLG was supposed to have switched at 9 AM. WFOR is switching right after their noon news at 12:30 PM. Don’t know what WSVN and NBC6’s plans are (I might’ve heard 6’s plans this morning, but my cable provider (BOMBcast) dropped the sound on 6). 😛
WFLX is turning analog off today at noon supposedly, since that is one of the few stations that I actually receive a decent analog signal on my antenna, I’ll try to tape the event when it happens.
Also, Treasure Coast stations WTCN-CA and WWHB-CA will still be broadcasting in analog, for obvious reasons. Of course, both stations are available on WTVX’s multiplexed digital signal, so it doesn’t really matter too much. These are the only two low-power stations in the general South Florida area that I can think of, although there are probably a few more.
That drives me nuts. Because of WTCNs low power status, no MyTV HD stuff can be aired on it.
WSVN will probablw switch at 11:59, that’s when WHDH is doing it up here
WSVN pulled the analog plug at midnight, but was totally dark (both analog and digital) for at least 45 minutes, which is when I went to bed.
