In March we told you WSVN anchor and reporter Dave Kartunen was seen at WHDH interviewing for the station’s then recently vacated weekend evening anchor post.
Well he was and now it’s official. Dave is swapping stations and moving to WHDH to anchor the weekend evening newscasts!
His last day at WSVN will be June 26th and he’ll be on the air at WHDH sometime in early July.
Dave Kartunen joined WSVN in 2003 from WSAV, the NBC affiliate in Savannah, Georgia.

It is with mixed emotions I announce that Dave Kartunen is leaving the Plex. Dave is being promoted to Weekend Evening Anchor at WHDH in Boston. Dave has done an oustanding job since coming to 7 News back in 2003, starting as a reporter and working his way up to Saturday morning anchor. Dave went to college at Boston University, and has family in the area. He is very excited to be returning to New England. We’re thrilled about this new promotion, but sad to see him leave the Plex. But we’ll all see him when he does those snow live shots for us! Dave’s last day is June 26th. Please congratulate Dave!
So who’s going to take his place Saturday mornings? LuAnne Sorrell? Rosh Lowe? Vanessa Medina? Let the guessing game begin.
I vote for Luanne, she has had a lot of experience filling in weekday mornings for Diana or Christina. We shall see.
I vote for Luanne. There were some days where she filled in on Saturdays and also filled in for Diana and christine in the mornings and Robbin on for the weekends during the evening segments. So she might get it…

I will miss Dave. But I think either Robin, Luanne would do just fine. I really do not like Vanessa as anchor. She is way better as a reporter in my opinion. Good Luck Dave! You will be missed.
