The truth is that NBC, which owns Telemundo, is making a brilliant move. It recognizes where the growth is, and isn’t.
Jose Cancela, a hispanic media executive, says NBC is smart for selling WTVJ while keeping WSCV because English-language networks have seen their “viewers disappearing faster than rabbits in a Vegas magic act” while Spanish-language media is gaining not only viewers but also advertiser dollars.
maybe one day when the illegals are sent back and Cubans are no longer allowed here just because they are Cuban WTVJ will get its ENGLISH speaking viewers back.
jhkilroy its not only in Miami, across the country this is happening. NBC is dead while CBS, FOX, and ABC remain strong but sometimes loose viewers while Univision is beoming one of Americas largest and most watched networks. It beat NBC a while ago and beat other networks in certian age groups. ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
Julian , habla es paniol …..
Maybe this website will follow and go just spanish only since no one speaks English anymore…
Univision is a joke… half the crap they air is just hot chicks dressed skimpy doing the news or weather or a game show… its nothing more than a cheap ploy to get horny spanish speaking audience… weather girls with double d cups and soap opera’s with hot latina’s skimpily dressed and NBC wonders why it gets ratings ? Please….
jhkilroy- sounds to me like you may be a bit envious of the success that the Spanish networks are having. I am even surprise at how much you know about them. “Half the crap they air is just hot chicks dressed skimpy doing the news or weather or a game show”…”weather girls with double d cups and soap opera’s with hot Latina’s skimpily dressed”
Maybe it might help if you stopped watching. The truth is that the Hispanic market will continue to grow year after year.
“Its nothing more than a cheap ploy to get horny Spanish speaking audience”
The statement above is completely out of content. What do you think that Spanish television is a free version of Playboy? I don’t think so. Sex sells but so do Spanish networks.
My point is that if a normal english speaking station aired half the stuff the spanish station did the FCC would probably get flooded with complaints and would have to act… the spanish stations are getting away with something only cable stations normally get.
Look at NBC catching hell for Milf Island on 30 rock which is tame in comparison to wat is on Telemundo .
Let them follow the same standards and watch their ratings fall flat too…
OR
Let the other stations air sexier material as well to keep up… I guarantee a real episode of milf island would get quite the ratings…
jhkilroy I dont speak spanish so wouldnt know since Ive never watched Univision or Telemundo, fact is its a growing market becoming more powerful. It doesnt matter what they show, facts are facts your opinion is pointless.
Que Pasa ?
Como ?
