WFOR:
A reader points out WFOR have started using stretch-o-vision on their local content. According to other posters on AVSForum-Miami it is not the same stretching that WSVN/WPLG are doing, they’ve sort of split standard and wide screen leaving small black bars on left and right side. /thx BDCat/
WSVN:
Yesterday several tipsters notified us that WSVN gave away the new hi-def ready replaced the 7Sports open during the 6pm newscast yesterday, because of Shaq’s departure to Phoenix, sports director Steve Shapiro joking even he didn’t expect it. As one tipster said if you blinked you’d miss it. It’s seems shorter than the previous open, it’s all 3D CGI, bit blah with 3 balls (baseball, football, basketball) sliding before the Sp7rts logo transitions.
it gives a good indication where the new graphics package is heading – keeping the glass background elements, that have been in promos for a while, with black, blue, red color gradient.
Also the ‘News never stops’ promo appears to be running in 720p in addition to the one that debuted during Superbowl.

From what I am told WSVN hasn’t even begun to design any HD material yet. I have a freind in the graphics dept. and she tells me that they are already struggling to get the day to day stuff done.
Since nobody in this market can do real HD, they’re all jumping on the bandwagon with this fake stretch-o-vision garbage. Pathetic.
From the way you just described the Sports intro, it sounds exactly like our current intro here in Boston? Blue/Black/Red glass-like background with a bouncing basketball, football and baseball… hmmm I wonder?!
Rob 100% … bouncing on a >>>>>>>>>>>>
not surprised they’re homogenizing – “weather center”, promos, election … wonder if they dumped the gfx department boston or miami
Do you think that they will have the same graphics package as WHDH/WLVI?
It wasn’t a new HD open. Shaq was part of the old sports open so WSVN had to get a new open on quickly. They simply took the open from WHDH.
From what I am told WSVN hasn’t even begun to design any HD material yet. I have a freind in the graphics dept. and she tells me that they are already struggling to get the day to day stuff done. They have had a bunch of meetings about it but nothing ever gets done.
sounds like same old 7
