A WTVJ photog parked the company-owned Ford Explorer at the station’s main entrance at 4:30pm on November 25 only to return an hour later and find the front passenger-side window broken and the $25,000 Panasonic DVCPro camera, hidden in the trunk, gone. Someone knew what they were doing!

  1. Some stations use heavy duty cables that lock through the camera’s top hand hold and are attached to the car to prevent this. And this isn’t that rare — there is a huge market for stolen TV News equipment in South America.

  2. I wonder if this happened while the news director and assistant news director were out seeing a movie. Insider reports are the two went to see a movie in the middle of the work day together. I guess that is more fun than watching WTVJ’s rating drop.

  3. That’s ok… they need some new cameras anyway. Have you seen their live reports in “HD”? They should watch Channel 10 to see what REAL HD is.
