WFOR – Live TVLive From Chopper 4
WTJV – Live
WSVN – Live
WPLG – Live

WSVN’s site is on its last leg, it barely loads but the video stream looks ok.

CNN.com’s Live Video also has 7 on

12:25pm – Looks like 7 and 10 are pooling choppers again. Minutes ago Ralph Rayburn mentioned they were down to refuel, and currently the same chopper shot of the police motorcade is on both 7 and 10.

12:43pm – All stations must be shairng video – 6 has the shot from Skyforce hard to tell any more actually I think they all must be just picking up whoever has the best video

  1. I know everyone is going to flip when I say this, but I think NBC6 did the best job on the shooter coverage. They had information coming in much faster than other stations. They really shined when the guy was caught. They were the first on air with the arrest. I loved how Joel Conable was standing at the assignment desk and we could hear him confirming info with the desk people and then putting everything together as the arrest happened. I thought it was cool. NBC6 also had the story right. 4 was reporting all sorts of things that were wrong at times. I just thought NBC did really well when they usually come last with breaking stuff. 2. wow… revolutionary

have someone stand at the news desk and get information from people working there.. confirm it on tv…

7’s only been doing that for about fifteen years

    but i agree… 6 was solid…
10 was decent.. but that calvin guy AWFUL………..

  3. That Calvin Guy has been telling people at our station that he is Lauderdale’s replacement next year. I also thought 6 did a bang up job. I don’t think Amber was saying what they did was unique. I think she was complementing the way they did it. Joel was at the desk and we could hear him talking with people as he reported what he was hearing. It was interesting. I have to say, that Joel Conable does a great job. He doesn’t get all newsy like other people. He is like a normal person who just is along for the ride and I thought the way he does his reporting and anchoring is fantastic compared to the style we see in this market. he is much more laid back. I’m sure someone will knock him knwo that I complemented him. It seems like this site is full of people who hate pretty much everyone on TV unless they have big boobs.

  4. The various stations have agreements to cover each other when their helicopters have to leave to refuel. They can’t just take other stations video without permission.

Amber, you’re unfairly disrespecting 4. They had solid information all the way through. I know because I was part of a team watching all 4 stations as part of a student project, and I was assigned to watch them. I saw all but the first 20 minutes of coverage, and we all compared notes afterward.

If you have such detail about 6, when did you have time to watch 4 in detail? Were you using multiple TV sets? I suspect you may be Joel’s mom 🙂

  5. Well, Junebug, it’s time for you to go back to school and doa better job on your project. Channel 4 reported at 6pm with Ted Scouten, I believe, that the shooter drover up to Lauderdale By The Sea and then came back to the pawn shop. That was incorrect. Just a small example of how the coverage has simple mistakes that show someone didn’t do their homework. As for being Joel’s mom, my name is Amber Finlay, what part of my last name looks like Conable? I fugured this site is full of little kids in school trying to critique television news.

  6. Ouch, Amber.
Lighten up! You said 4 was reporting “all sorts of things wrong”. You mentioned one. There were lots of changing aspects in this story, including changing information from police and witnesses. Nobody had it perfect.

And, as for the ‘little kids in school’, since when is her opinion less valuable than yours.

    Just askin…

  7. 2 questions. First: is it too much to expect broadcast professionals to have a rudimentary knowledge of the geography of the market where they work? ATTENTION: Davie Boulevard is NOT in Davie. I heard this at least once on every station. (I could go for hours on explaining the difference between “north Miami” and “North Miami.”)
Second: why do I have to watch this dreadful Ivillage on 6 instead of carrying the funeral? What happened to public service? And whoever heard of interrupting a funeral service with commercials? Let me know when they have the telethon for NBC, OK?

  8. I saw the funeral on 6. But, here’s a point that I know will make a lot of people mad. Why are television stations carrying a deputy’s funeral live for hours anyway? This guy was a jail guard and he died. It’s very sad, but do we have to watch live coverage of funerals everytime a cop dies. I think it’s a little much. Fox or WSVN also titled their coverage Death of a Hero or something like that. This deputy was not a hero. he was just doing his job like he always did. A hero is someone who does something livesaving that is not expected of them. I think streaming the funeral on the internet and covering it at the end of the day or maybe doing an extra long live shot during a newscast is fine, but three hours of continuous coverage, come on.
