  1. So WTVJ was the only station that gained viewers at 11PM. WPLG, WFOR lost viewers and 10 retained their viewers at 10PM. It shows they’re doing something right if it’s not just spill over from prime time … people are actually switching channels to tune in.

They can’t help that they’re prime time schedule is just so, so bad. ABC has “Housewives” and “Anatomy” which helps 10, Fox has the golden goose “Idol” which helps 7. You people give Lauderdale and Jennings way too much credit …

  2. first: thanks for posting them so that they’re legible…

second: my first reaction to the numbers (the thing that sticks out that most) is how many people tune away from wfor’s 11pm news…they have a 7.5 during primetime and cant get more than a 5 for their 11..finally south floridians are turning away from that garbage

third: why aren’t the 5-6pm (early fringe i think its called in ratings terms..not sure) ever counted? i’m pretty sure ‘svn wins that slot

fourth: almost everyone can claim some sort of victory here (except tvj)..so sad to see a former powerhouse dwindle (much like their parent network..)

lastly: i know that they have a 10pm newscast (although they have one at 11 too…but ‘svn seems to really kick ass at night…the nearest competitor (wplg) is over a whole ratings point away

ok..im done..back to waiting for the new gfx pkg that will never come on 7..

  3. Dwight is more or less a caricature of himself, but Laurie is a true talent. She’s the best in this market by far.

Obviously 7’s news @ 10 is high because a lot of people go to bed before the 11 news.

  4. Derrick and the rest of the visitors to this site need a lesson from Nielsen…
NBC6 and WFOR actually both lose viewers from prime time to the 11pm news. You can’t look at the prime average, you must look at the 10pm program and then the 11pm news. For instance, NBC gets a 4.9 rating, 7.7 share at 10:45pm. they drop to a 4.3, 7.4. It’s much worse for CBS4. they get a 6.3 rating, 9.9 share at 1045pm. at 11pm they drop to a 4.7, 8.1 share. both stations are obviously not holding ratings. At WPLG however, ABC delivers a 6.0 rating, 9.3 share at 1045pm. WPLG increases at 11pm to a 6.3, 10.8. That’s a sign that something is going right. hope that helps.

  5. and for the earlier question, among the news race at 5 and 530… 7 wins… and some days… beats phil… 4 comes next.. then 6…

  6. LoL! Are people REALLY watching WJAN’s newscast?? *sigh* At least if you’re going to watch Spanish newscasts, go for quality on 51 and 23!

  7. Wow. I think that WFOR needs to experiment with new things. Rodriguez/Rodriguez and the new graphics are minor tweaks. I’m talking a major tweak. They need to go around looking. Hopefully for Segreto or Michael Williams, which are pretty much wasted talent at this point in time. Pair them up with Maggie at 5 & 11 and bring in a female personality to host with Robb and Elliot.

  8. a little something for everybody .. well… except 6:

    am 7
    noon 4
5:00 7 (among those doing news)
    5:30 7
    6:00 10

    late
    overall 7
*but 10 wins head to head at 11:00

  9. WSVN has a new promo saying that they are number one in like every position. 7 likes to give themselves the credit they don’t have, but dammit do I respect them! lol 🙂

  10. That’s because they are. As CCNJ showed and what I posted above. Their promo states only morning, early evening and late news, 4 beats them at noon

  11. 7 is ridiculous and as always MISLEADING. **Skewed numbers and info like… overall late they win (but 10 wins at 11) The average viewer has NO earthly idea and will probably believe 7 is #1 all around. Which they are not. But whatever.. blow your own horn 7. You are a laughing stock anyways and have an elf (Belkys) for a main anchor.

  12. I don’t work at 7, but I consider their promo accurate. They don’t say anything that’s not true. It’s not like they claim they’re “number 1 at 11:00” or “number 1 at 6:00.”

  13. The GM, News Director, Producers, Managers, and Chief Photographers should pat themselves on the back….they have went from worse to last!!!!! NBC needs to do house cleaning!!!

  14. Thanks for clarifying that up for all of us Scorn. You’re absolutely right about 10’s viewer tune-in for their 11. Not only do they maintain their viewers in the lead-in, but there’s also a lot of loyal viewers in this market for 10 that will tune in at 11. Not only do Laurie Jennings & Dwight Lauderdale make a great team, but they have great chemistry, and it shows. Another thing to consider is that Dwight has been with 10 for a little over 30 years now. And as a Miami native, that sort of stability is what continues to draw me and other viewers to tune into 10 at 11pm. I honestly watch other stations just to see how much better 10 is at almost everything. Not only is their video crispier than other stations, but their graphics and delivery of news is much more convincing that the other stations here. BTW… does anyone know how often they change the random sample?
