Wonder weather he’s coming
No matter what Lonnie decides, wish him well.
He’s a person of genuine character and personality.
His upbeat humor adds flavor to an otherwise boring SoFlo market.
WHAT!!!
He is the whole reason I watch tvj! Him Bob and Pam are an awesome morning crew! I can’t believe that.
Sorry folks, Lonnie is an ass-clown. He knows bupkus about weather. NYC just puts him closer to where he belongs…either back to soaps or filling in for Kelly Ripa. He is only tolerable because Mayer, as fine a pro as is left in this town, puts up with him. Now if we could only get Elita over to 6…and Iknow what you’re thinking, but she’s a lot closer to a meteorology certificate than the not-so-mighty Quinn.
I wish Lonnie well but I can’t say he’ll be missed terribly. His upbeat presentation never really worked. When he connected with and understood a story he was credible, however, much of the time he seemed unnatural; phony enthusiasm and faux sincerity, acting like he cared. As a parent, I really hope he isn’t moving away from his son for a weekend weather job, I don’t care which market.
I just wanted to say that I will be sorry to see Lonnie go. I thought he had an upbeat attitude that brought entertainment to an otherwise boring and unprofessional market. I’m sorry but Elita isn’t professional enough for NBC6. She would actually have to wear appropriate clothing and know what she is doing not just reading the teleprompter. Coming from a market that actually had real news (Washington, D.C)all of south Florida news is a joke and why not have people whose personalities match!
I am very sorry to see Lonnie go. He was the most genuine and sincere personality on the news in S. FLA. that I have ever seen…not one note of phoniness in his demeanor. Unfortunately, that is probably why he did not last here long. Good luck to him, I’m sure he is moving on to bigger and better things.
Have they hired anyone new?
Lonnie isn’t going to New York for a weekend job. He’s going to be the Chief Forecaster at 6 and 11 PM for WCBS. It doesn’t get much better than that. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him seeing him at many community events and his genuiness is not debatable. He’s a gentleman who is as sincere a person as the South Florida market has ever seen. He’s missed already.
how does he get hired as the chief meterologist when hes not a meteoroligist?
If Lonnie is at WCBS I can’t find him on their website. When I click on “Meet the team” he is not there. Does anybody know where I can find Lonnie??? The Florida news team just isn’t the same without him.
LONNIE WILL BE MISSED…HE WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR AND EASY ON THE EYE!!! I WISH HIM THE BEST.
Lonnie,
I wish you much sucess. You had a great weather show, which was entertaining and loose.
You will miss Miami!!
Lonnie is probably a very nice guy. But he’s one of those annoying types that tries too hard, laughs too loud and long and is flighty, unreliable and takes energy to be around.
That comes across as being inauthentic (my first impression of him). Pretending to talk to Al Roker as if Al could hear him? PULLLEAZE.
My husband and I were relieved when he left. Our loss is their, um, loss.
I do feel sorry for his son. I know people do it all the time, but I could never leave mine.
I always enjoyed the fake conversations w/ Al. I’ve never seen any other weathercaster do tat , which made his unique. Most of the time his comments were just what everyone was thinking. Now I watch from Orlando, where weather guesser Tony Mainolfi has this same stupid line for every weather report.
I miss you!!!! Wish you were here but wish you all the best!!!
Lonnie was incredible at channel 6. I truly only started watching NBC after meeting him at a charity event and I was hooked ever since. I wish him all the success he deserves in NY. I know WCBS broadcasts their shows live via Internet. Does anyone know what time Lonnie goes on the air?
So Barb, let me get this straight. You are so in to watching this Lonnie guy that you will watch streaming online videos of him giving a weather report in a place a thousand miles away from here?
maybe he/she has the hots for him 😉
I watch WESH online for Martha Sugalski, so sue me!!!
i dont blame u mr. ccc, if i were still down south thats what id be doing, but watching her online is nothing compared to seeing her live every night. the hair flip, the twitching of her eyebrows and im sure u didnt get to see her playing tennis with her co-anchor, and she was wearing the shortest skirt and looked beautiful. and then theres her glasses look – u cant beat that. I should be re-named “A Martha Sugalski Fan.”
Hey WSFL is not operating a master control department anymore from S. Fla….Ahhhh Tribune saga continues!
Hey Barb, Lonnie’s here at CBS2 (NY). He just finished a week subbing for (chief meteorologist) John Bolaris at 6 & 11. He goes back to the 5 and 5:30 starting Monday. Ch. 2’s website is http://www.wcbstv.com, if you need it. 🙂
