Sighhh… That’s sad.
I like the WB… always hated UPN.
Did you happen to see the short goodbye thing that they just showed?? Where they were like “From all of us at The WB, Thank you.” and the frog bowed. Saddd.
Anyway. I don’t like the CW news graphics all that much.
WBZL officially signed off at 6am Sunday by rerunning their “Good Night” sign off ident, then it was followed by a new and VERY orange “Good Morning” ident identifying the station as “WSFL Miami/Ft. Lauderdale”. The last show to air on WB39 was “The Black Enterprise Report” while the first show on CWSF was “South Florida Voices”.
I don’t mind the WSFL call letters, and I love the CW logo, but I hate the “network and city/region” branding that’s becoming a trend. The “network and channel number” trend is bland enough, but not even using the broadcast channel number is too generic and boring. CW39 would’ve done just fine for me.
Ferdy,
I know what you mean. I despise network/number branding. The network region branding, in my opinion, has an advantage over network/number in that you won’t see an identical brand anywhere else. “CW South Florida” is unique to WSFL, just like “CW West Palm” is unique in the WPB market. Contrast that with “NBC4” or “ABC7” of which there are a zillion across the country.
What’s screwed up is that the WSFL news product is simply branded “CW News at 10,” not “CW South Florida News at 10.”
First of all, it’s inconsistent with the other branding on the station, and second of all, it’s COMPLETELY generic.
I don’t mind the WSFL call letters at all, but I have to disagree with you on the CW logo, which I find horrendous.
I think this call letter change was a good and smart move. What if the CW happens to change it’s name, or *knock on wood* cease to exist down the road? Not adding CW in the sequence could save them the trouble of once again having the change their call letters in the near future.
