Hey, did you hear? WPEC CBS12 wants to know about the love of your life and why you’d want to spend the rest of your lives together so they can give you the wedding of your dreams!
Also, it’s sweeps month. What a coincidence!
The $30,000 ratings stunt is tied to the station’s morning show airing from 4:30am to 7am, sponsored by some resort place, a local florist, jewelers, and a bridal shop. The giveaway includes everything from the gown, hair, makeup, tuxedos, to the venue and the food. No details on the fine print but one would imagine you will have to do your part to make it worth it for the sponsors.
The station is asking interested viewers to send a photo and write why they want to spend the rest of their lives with their fiancé by May 8. Then the chosen five couples will be live in studio on CBS12 News This Morning, any time between 4:30am and 7am, to share their story. And after that viewers will get judgy and decide who the most deserving couple is. Voting starts May 17 and ends on May 21.
It’s not a stunt. It’s marketing. If it creates a buzz it is successful. They should get a good bump during sweeps coupling this with all the viewers coming over from fox 29 since their main anchor, Roxanne Stein, is hardly ever seen on the air over there. She was a big draw
for fox and her fill in, well, just doesn’t come off as the sharpest tool in the shed. Without
Roxanne refined viewers will find 12 their best bet. Their sweeps numbers will go up while
fox goes down without a doubt.
Yeah it’s all coincidence, a third place TV station giving away a $30,000 reward, during sweeps month, and teling viewers to watch from 4:30am to 7am. And the moon is made of cheese.
WPEC is third place in ratings and getting beat by a competitor (WPBF) who was for the longest time in 3rd and 4th place and who is now very much on top of their game from what I’ve seen.
