WPEC Bumps 7pm Newscast to WTVX

999174_10151812253832941_1442244423_nLast week WPEC-CBS12 announced on its Facebook page that celeb news show Entertainment Tonight is coming to the station and set to air at 7pm. Which of course means they are axing the 7pm newscast. Interesting change of mind considering how proud CBS12 was of having the only 7pm newscast in the area, and WPTV/Scripp’s strategy of keeping more commercial time to itself.

TVSpy reports WTVX, also owned by Sinclair, will pick up the slack and go head-to-head with WFLX FOX29 at 10pm with a newscast starting in January 2014 anchored by Ben Becker and Stephanie Watson.

ET is moving to WPEC because WPTV parent company Scripps is opting to air its own programming in the 7pm to 8pm hour. WPTV will air ‘The List’ weekdays at 7pm followed by the quiz show Let’s Ask America at 7:30pm.
