Yes, meteorologist Michael Smith is now part of the WFOR weather team. This is the station’s second hire of a former WPLG personality, the other one being John Guaraldi.
Smith was the weekend meteorologist at WPLG until earlier this year when he became the odd man out after Local 10 was ordered by corporate to shuffle their weather personalities around. He had a brief stint at the Weather Channel after leaving Channel 10.
No word yet on which time slot he’s taking, but our bet is that we’ll see him on weekday mornings when Lisette Gonzalez leaves on maternity in a few weeks.
Great hire! He is personable, does not take himself too seriously and has a nice tv personality. Local 10 really s’d the bed by letting him and scott walk while keeping betty who looks like this is the first day in heels take over as the chief! Hope he stays on long term. Would be a great addition to 4.
i thought he was going to the weather channel
Good fit. Yet ANOTHER qualified experienced likable weatherperson that channel 10 let go who they blamed for their ratings fall. 10 replaced their recent weather forecasters with cheerleaders and outside women. Well, how is that working? Ha!
Run for your life, Mr. Smith. Run like hell.
WFOR should make it 3 former WPLG weathercasters and bring Trent Aric over to replace David. Then WFOR would have a solid and credible weather team. Can they get Scott to come back to SFL as well?
Where is Michael Smith now?
Where is Michael now?
Michal Smith is now with a TV station in Alabama. WFOR can’t make up it’s mind about anything.
