How many assignment desks routinely hand out news releases to new reporters and say, “Here’s the story we want: Shopping is going great at the mall.”
If viewers only knew. November sweeps month is in full force, along with those awful stories stations are usually pumping out. It’s like a competition between all station on who’s going to have the worst story of the month. Former WFOR investigative and consumer reporter Al Sunshine reminds journalists in his RTDNA column to take risks, expose problems and have stories worth telling. And as a viewer I will add, stories worth my (our) time.
