this shot, from a WTVJ NBC 6 promo one of our readers linked me up with via email. The 30 second spot is teasing the upcoming re-launch of NBC 6. Nothing to see there, no hints of set or anything, just text on a white background and a #TheNewNBC6 twitter hashtag. I’m told it all goes live before the Olympics begin.
You know something is wrong when the oldest TV station in Florida has to create an ad campaign promoting themselves as new.
Hopefully, they get rid of VO Charlie Van Dyke and get a new news theme.
Charlie Van Dyke is fantastic. I thought it was great when they got him back. He did their VO from the early to mid 1980s before NBC bought them and just within the last 5 or 6 years came back to work with them again.
It’s been a little over a month since WTVJ moved to its makeshift set… the old news set being demolished, to make room for the new set. I’m guessing the new set could and might possibly be by Clickspring, which has designed news sets for other NBC O&O’s.
I’m guessing that we’ll be seeing the new set by Monday, July 23… along with new NBC O&O graphics… and maybe the new NBC O&O music.
