Henry Cardenas, a WSVN photojournalist for 28 years passed about a week ago after a long battle with cancer. Last night WSVN ran a story about him. An immigrant from Cuba who used to film government officials, Cardenas fled the island nation in 1980 after his wife’s family members were jailed by the regime. Shortly after, he would join WSVN as a photojournalist and remain there for 28 years even after a heart attack while on assignment in Haiti, and throat cancer that would leave him unable to speak.
There is also an obituary by the Miami Herald looking back at Henry Cardenas’ life with quotes from some his current and former WSVN colleagues.
Wow, I didn’t even know this man but this report brought tears to my eyes.. I wish his family and friends the best during this tough time. Kudos to Rosh for a touching report.
