The new WTVJ NBC 6 graphics and set are debuting this week but today the station just released a new promo touting all the stuff their doing, a re-newed commitment if you will to the news operation. What’s interesting though is how the promo ends, with Jackie Nespral saying the ‘New NBC 6 South Florida’.

Who’s Jackie Nespray?
I’m guessing that Jackie Nespral’s name was misspelled. Hope to see the new set and graphics soon.
“Renewed commitment” – very interesting choice of words there.
In all honesty, you have to give NBC credit for investing in its stations, although they were looking so miserly that they might as well have been promoting government cheese in the cooking segments.
They did this in California too. It’s no long NBC Los Angeles but NBC Southern California. Idk, I personally like NBC Miami better. NBC South Florida is too long… and I say this as a Broward County resident.
And apparently in Northern California where it is “NBC Bay Area” (featuring the lovely Christina Loren as morning weather-guesser) 🙂
Of the NBC O&O’s… I noticed KNTV San Francisco getting the “NBC Bay Area” name back in 2008, dropping the “NBC 11” branding. KNTV being on VHF channel 11. NBC wanted former long-time affiliate KRON-TV 4 as an O&O, but was unable to acquire it.
WVIT retired the “NBC 30” branding in 2009, for the current “NBC Connecticut” branding, when they moved to their current facility and debuted HD newscasts.
KNSD debuted HD newscasts in 2011, and retired the “NBC 7/39” branding, for the “NBC San Diego” branding. Then the modified “NBC 7 San Diego” branding took over.
Other NBC O&O have kept the channel number in their brandings. I wasn’t really a huge fan of the “NBC Miami” branding on WTVJ.
“NBC Miami” for a station based at least 45 minutes away in Miramar is pretty crazy! NBC 6 South Florida – not terrible — hope they chop it to “NBC 6” when they need a shorter, punchier use.
WTVJ never had a graphics problem. They have a “talent” and news gathering problem.
Flooding the station with a bunch of newbies no one knows won’t help. Most people don’t know who is on their air now even though they have been here for years.
Don’t know if WTVJ has debuted the new set quite yet… unless it’ll be debuting over the weekend, or early next week. Hoping to see the new look very soon.
I agree with Marty about WTVJ having the talent and news-gathering problem.
