Palm Beach NBC affiliate WPTV and The Palm Beach Post newspaper have formed a news partnership. According to the announcement, WPTV will feature a front-page story from The Palm Beach Post during the station’s morning newscasts, its 11pm newscast and WFLX newscasts which WPTV is now producing.
The Palm Beach Post, owned by COX Media, will in turn feature video from WPTV on its website and weather forecasts from WPTV chief meteorologist Steve Weagle both online and in print.
This isn’t WPTV’s first partnership with a newspaper, they currently are in a news partnership with the Sun Sentinel which covers Broward and Southern Palm Beach County, and with Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers. WPTV is owned by Sripps.
I guess this rules out COX making a bid for WPEC?
Talk about adding insult to injury! The Palm Beach Post originally had a partnership with WPEC before this announcement was made.
Happy New Year to all of you, by the way 🙂
