Strip Club Near WSVN Studios Fails Approval, For Now

4

Update: here is another story that WSVN ran today from the actual meeting. Over 100 people turned out including WSVN anchor Belkys Nerey who spoke against the proposed strip club saying it could be dangerous to the female staff who come and go from the station, especially late at night and early morning

Last night the North Bay Village zoning board met to vote on whether the developer who purchased the old WIOD building next to WSVN studios can have a strip club established at the property. The board voted against the proposal unanimously but it could still go before the city commission which apparently has the power to ignore the zoning board and approve it anyway.

The NBVR blog says 24 hours before the vote hundreds of North Bay Village citizens got involved in the effort to stop the strip club’s approval by passing fliers at the school, writing to the commissioners and showing up at the meeting itself with signs saying ‘No Strip Club’.

NVBR blogger Kevin Vericker thinks WSVN’s report on the strip club proposal, which the station aired multiple times on Tuesday, fired up locals to show up and let officials know how they felt.

  1. @ Adam, Someone needs to tell Chris to dial back the BPM’s. Some poor fellow might have a seizure or heart attack from that music! Slow it down!
