Good Omen? WTVJ Adds 4hrs of News on Weekend Mornings

Things must be improving over at WTVJ, after layoffs and high profile talent leaving the station in the last 2 years, they’ve now added more news on weekends. ‘NBC Miami Today’ will run from 6am to 7am and then from 9am to 10am on Saturdays, and on Sundays from 6am to 8am. Sharon Lawson will anchor the show, with Jennifer Reeves on weather.

The press release says the expanded hours are the result “… of a significant company-wide investment in the 10 NBC-owned stations to further strengthen newsgathering operations”. Guess now that Zucker is out Comcast will perhaps make good on the promise to invest more in the local stations. And WTVJ needs all the help they can get

  1. Finally that show is back! I love watching it on weekends, nice fun energy in the mornings. Sharon does a great job with Jen. Love having the guests appear on the show. Mixes it up a bit.I can finally watch NBC on my weekend mornings rather than the other stations…

  2. Glad to see the weekend morning show. I got tired of seeing local 10. Bring back Kelly Craig as the 5PM Anchor!!!

  3. So if Sharon is now doing weekend mornings, does that mean that Amara is back on Saturday evenings? (I rarely remember to watch the evening news on weekends, I did watch last night and Kevin Corke was anchoring).

  4. Due to NBC Sunday Night Football, Kevin & Jackie anchor Sunday-Thursday. Amara anchors Friday and Saturday evenings. After football, I guess Amara is back anchoring Saturday & Sundays.
