WPTV owner Scripps has announced who will anchor the newscasts on FOX affiliate WFLX starting January 1, 2011 when its 5-year partnership with Raycom Media begins. It’s nothing surprising, simply WPTV news anchors will handle the WFLX newscasts.
Once done with the news on WPTV from 4:30am to 7am, John Favole and Roxanne Stein will continue at FOX29 News at 7am with the rest of the on-air crew, Lauren LaPonzina traffic and Glenn Glazer with weather. The weekday 10pm newscast will be anchored by Jay Cashmere and Shannon Cake who anchor at 5 and 5:30pm on WPTV along with meteorologist Steve Weagle.
On weekends at 10pm, anchors will be Tania Rogers and an as yet unnamed co-anchor. They will also handle the weekend 6 and 11pm newscasts on WPTV.
Scripps and Raycom Media inked a news partnership recently, which will have WPTV producing all of the newscasts on WFLX. Raycom is allegedly paying Scripps $1 million per year for 5 years. Currently the newscasts on WFLX are produced by CBS affiliate WPEC, that agreement dates back to 1991.
