WSFL/Sun Sentinel reporter got into a scuffle today after a press conference by the wife of self-admitted scammer Scott Rothstein.
As Kim Rothstein left for her SUV one of her bodyguards, identified by the Miami Herald as former Plantation police officer Joe Alu, and a WSFL reporter got into a scuffle for allegedly getting too close to the entourage.
Video recorded by a WFOR photog shows the Sun Sentinel reporter running toward Kim Rothstein to ask her a question when her bodyguard puts his hand on him and both start to fight.
Another man in a black shirt then rushed toward them and was seen pushing, shoving and threatening Sun Sentinel’s reporter yelling at him what sounds like “you’re dead”. When another cameraman tells the man not to touch him again he yells back “he’s a fucking a cop, there’s a cop behind you, he’s a fucking cop” presumably referring to Kim Rothstein’s bodyguard.
In September 2009 a Sun Sentinel/WSFL reporter was hit, and WTVJ and other crews, were shoved and blocked as a crooked politician and her family tried to run away from the cameras.
A few days before that incident, a WSFL/Sun Sentinel reporter Alex Zequeira was kicked in the stomach while covering a story
SunSentinel’s vantage point of what happened is after the jump. WFOR also has video of the scuffle showing better who did what

Try “entourage” or “F7” to spell check, you fools.
And you wonder why no one can take your site seriously? Good work!
Sometimes posts get accidentally published while still in a draft state. Even if that wasn’t the case in this situation, the author who wrote this post’s English is a second language. In all sincerity, piss off.
If this was FB, I’d be pushing Like right now. Good answer.
Joe Alu is one of the two officers who were severely burned in a house fire many years ago in Plantation. It’s a shame he had to resort to working for a sleaze like Rothstein. It is equally shameful that he saw fit to take this reporter down in the manner he did. A slightly larger reporter would have cleaned Alu’s clock, and rightly so. Alu should seek a less thug-like source for employment.
That was special. Thank you.
Kudos for changing the mistake.
Chuck, Did you see what he looked like ? Reminds me of an old steroid upped wrestler. You don’t that big at that age without them ! I liked it when Joe fell into the bushes…Joe looked like the grandson of Gorgeous George
I have a lot of sympathy for him, but really, if burns hurt as much as I’ve heard, imagine how much tattoos on top of burnt skin must be. His partner became a lawyer. Sad all around, but really, hard to feel for someone protecting scum.
The guy needs to look in the mirror. I was glad to see him fall on his ass in the bushes though. I wonder how long Rothstein’s wife will be able to afford that type of lifestyle though.
Reporter 1, Bodyguard 0.
The news media should only hire giant people…the camera angles would be awesome!
the reporter [jack hambrick] deserved to get his ass kicked! he looks for trouble during times like this to make “a name for himself”, and it finally came back to bit him on the ass. you’re never gonna be like your daddy jack!
