Here’s one for the old timers in Miami.
Barry Leffler worked in Miami in the 80s and 90s. First at WSVN from 1983 to 1990 as a producer and then as a creative services director from 1991 to 1992. He then moved to WTVJ and became the station’s VP of Creative Services and Programming from 1992 until 1996.
After 7 years as VP of Retail Operations and Consumer Marketing at NBC he became WNCN’s general manager in 2005.
Leffler recently bought a minority stake in WHCL-AM in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, a talk radio station and also the flagship station of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He will be stepping down as WNCN general manager and will take over WHCL as the CEO and managing partner. Eventually he will purchase the station in full.
