Update2: A tipster tells us 7 Skyforce was not sent to cover the stuck cow, 7 just picked up the metro traffic chopper feed.
Cool pictures of cow stuck already in front of us, there was no reason not to air it.. but, for the record, we did not, and would not pay to send skyforce.. and even Billi reported it rather tongue in cheek
Update: NBC6 just ran a small bit about it at the end of the 6PM news.
If you ever wondered why there’s little respect for local news now-a-days, here’s your answer. This is a “tweet” from @newschasers.
“Southwest Ranches: Griffin Rd, FD en route to cow stuck in mud, PIO also en route
MAY need tactical rescue for cow stuck in mud?”
Followed by:
“CFR ADVISES NEWS CHOPPERS OVERHEAD ON COW INCIDENT LOL, COWS FRONT LEGS ARE STUCK IN MUD NEAR CANAL, TRYING TO EXTRICATE NOW”
…and sad to say, that was 100% true. That’s right, WSVN was first to “break the story” of the stuck cow. They even wasted their money and sent 7Skyforce
WSVN picked up the feed from Metro Traffic with which they have a news sharing agreement. WFOR had the story as well labeled as Breaking News.
All that for a cow that will soon be beef and leather shoes! It gets better. CBS4 finds out about the cow situation, and sends their chopper too! Not only that, but they also did a “BREAKING NEWS” bump on LIVE TV… calling this “Breaking News.” A stuck cow. Breaking news. Really? Breaking news?
7 news ran a news update featuring it, but that’s just 7 news. I would have expected more from CBS4. This folks, is why more and more networks are looking into dropping O&O news stations all together. Maybe I’m just going crazy, but to me, this is in NO WAY, shape, or form, ANY type of news… much less “Breaking News.” Idiocy.
CBS4 Breaking News ?!?!
How does this affect anyone but the cow.
Of course they have to copy what seven does…
blindly following stories as always, without checking facts or relevancy..
remember Robert Parker Jr.
yup…the Metro Traffic chopper was (and i’m quoting now), “bored.” There were no accidents or major tie ups and they always fly between 5-6:30 p.m…so why not? Heck, it made for cool pictures and people are talking about it…
That was udderly pointless. ha.
NBC6 handled it pretty well. They had fun with it as closing video on their 6pm newscast.
Breaking News! Dog farts, and accidently leaks poop. We currently have three live crews on the scene, and SkyForce on the way. We will have every angle of the story covered.
I think that’s next for them…
