You may remember Nick Maslow, from NBCU: College Edition. Nick, a broadcasting student at the University of Miami and a former intern at WTVJ, now has the incredible opportunity to report for MTV on the red carpet of the 81st annual, Academy Awards… With our help. The competition was open to college students across the nation. MTVU and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences asked college journalists to submit persuasive videos explaining why they would be the best correspondent on the red carpet at the 81st annual Academy Awards. From all of the videos sent in, they selected 10 finalists, and Nick was one of those 10… The only one from South Florida. His entry video can is above. On February 6, he will find out if he earned enough votes to be in the top three. From there, another round of voting will start on February 9.
According to a press release from the academy:
“The Grand Prize team will be revealed on Friday, February 20, at an Academy press conference and awarded a spot on the red carpet for the 81st Academy Awards arrivals as well as credentials for access to backstage press rooms. The two finalist teams will receive bleacher seats along the red carpet and admission to an Oscar® viewing party.”
