This is rather old news, but I just noticed it. NBC6 has changed their “Weather Plus” channel from being “NBC6 Weather Plus” to the new O&O way: “NBC Plus”.It looks like the photo above, and the structure is still the same. The only thing missing is the national reports.
Yeah, many NBC O&Os are doing that. And even NBC affiliates who are not O&Os (e.g., WPTV) are keeping their WX+ system under a new name. As far as 5 goes I’m not exactly sure what it’s being called now. Reception of their station varies too much where I live.
Oops! I forgot to mention that I’m talking about the only TV connected to my DTV converter box, therefore it is the only place where I can receive DTV subchannels such as WX+ (or its successors). Most of my TV viewing is by DirecTV now…Comcast ticked me off too many times.
Amen. I’m on DircTV now as well…
From what I’ve observed across the nation…
— Gannett appears to have dropped Weather Plus from several of its NBC stations (e.g. WXIA Atlanta, WKYC Cleveland), and running live doppler radar streams, with the old Weather Plus style L-Bar graphics.
— Post-Newsweek has dropped Weather Plus from its Detroit and Houston NBC stations… currently offering This TV.
— WHDH Boston appears to be airing a simulcast of its analog signal… which I assume will likely be sujbected to disappear after the DTV switch.
— Media General dropped Weather Plus from most of its NBC stations (e.g. WFLA Tampa Bay, WCMH Columbus, WVTM Birmingham, and WJAR Providence), in favor of airing RTN… WNCN Raliegh-Durham won’t be getting RTN. WRCB Chattanooga picked up RTN as well, dropping WX+. Cox has also dropped WX+ from its 3 NBC stations too.
WNBC here in New York is still using WeatherPlus.
