Channel 7’s parent company Sunbeam Television is still fighting the developer who bought the building next to its studios and plans to build condos on its place.
According to a story in the Miami Herald today Isle of Dreams LLC will be going back before the North Bay Village Commission for a third time after a meeting on Monday when the commission held any decisions until objecting parties can present their testimony.
On April 29th residents and Sunbeam TV will have an opportunity to appear before the commission and state their objections at which time or shortly thereafter commissioners will decide if the project will get the go ahead.
North Bay Village Mayor Joseph Geller maintains that the commission is to rule only in regard to building code and master plan, the same position he held when WSVN interviewed him for their story two months ago.
Meanwhile Isle of Dreams attorney Jeffrey Bercow says Sunbeam’s claims they’ll go out of business if the condos were to be built is a “complete fabrication”.
He says the plans for the condo building provide Sunbeam with access to their property and that the builder will make available 70 parking spaces reserved exclusively for WSVN.

Bahm what’s the big deal – all WSVN has to do is gut Belky’s dressing room and they’ve got the 70 parking spaces. 😉
Seriously though, that site is just begging to get trashed by the next large hurricane. WTVJ and WFOR will be sending reporters in to cover WSVN getting wiped off the map.
I doubt Belkys has a dressing room all to herself, one in her dreams maybe but probably not in reality 😀
they have the control room on the second floor so other than the newsplex getting flushed probably would be on the air 🙂
the main anchors have offices to themselves, craig belkys lynn the morning peeps so maybe she uses that as her dressing room
of course
but they look very small on TV the few times they’ve shown them on Deco
Lynn’s office is about the size of 4 medium sized cubicles put in a square.
Lynn can park in my driveway…. I will give her oil massages and tend to all her needs….
NOOOO!!!! LEAVE WSVN WHERE IT IS! The LAST thing Miami/North Bay Village needs is ANOTHER high priced towering condo!!!
I think I mentioned this in the last post, but in essence, NewsGirl is right. All these condos are going into foreclosure because nobody is moving into them. The real estate market is at an all-time low. People are moving OUT of Florida. Anyone in the real estate business should know this, and before that guy goes and builds those condos, he should look at what hes going to build, because as far as I’m concerned, its pointless for them to build the condos. Downtown Dadeland went into Foreclosure. 30% of its condos were sold.
