  1. congrats to all who won…but keep in mind that these stations have to apply for and submit their work for these awards…stations who don’t submit, don’t win…so its not exactly like the oscars or the grammys where everyone is up for something…

  2. Insider, that was possibly one of the snottiest comments I’ve seen here. How about this; if a news operation doesn’t bother to enter one of the 4 most respect competitions in journalism (Dupont, Peabody, and Pulitzer are the others) maybe it’s because they didn’t have much to offer.

I don’t hear anyone saying things like that when The Herald wins a Pulitzer, which also is open only to those who enter.

  3. Hey Glenna. Why didn’t you or WPLG win a Murrow award?

I thought you were the best thing in Miami journalism.

  4. Why do people say “could care less”? It suggests you care a lot because you could care much less! It’s “couldn’t”.

  5. Congratulations to all at WFOR for the awards!

There are always those who don’t submit, then snipe because they didn’t win anything. If you don’t get into the competition, you never win anything, ever.

Experience tells me those that feel they have something that can win an award, will make the effort to enter it. Those who don’t, sit back and make excuses or throw stones.

Again, congrats to the ‘FOR folks. They deserve the recognition!

  6. Murrow award entries are submitted by the stations, not individual reporters/producers/editors, unlike Emmy’s. So of course “no one in news at PLG” submits.”

  7. What could possibly be the reason a station with good work would not enter the Murrow awards? They don’t like recognation from their peers or respect for their accomplishments? But let them win an Emmy, which has nothing to do with journalism, and they can’t get a promo on fast enough. Murrow awards are not easy to win, and preparing a solid entry takes a lot of work.
