With the local community responding in droves to help victims of the big earthquake in Peru WFOR is sending a crew to the country.

And again they’re adding original reporting to CBS4.com. In addition to web exclusive video and reports Brian Andrews will also be blogging the trip down there.

  1. big f’in deal they have someone in peru. these are the same eople who sent NO ONE to the Caribbean or Mexico for Hurricane Dean

  2. You’re wrong. Andrews was in Texas to cover the Storms. When it was clear the storms were going to effect no one in Texas… and no one in Florida.. WFOR pulled Brian out and sent him to Peru. I understand he went down there on his own, WITHOUT a cameraman, hired his own shooter and did the story. And I know Brian’s spanish isn’t great… but I saw his stuff and think he did a really good job. Kudos to WFOR for trying something different while everyone else was chasing rain that wasn’t falling in our ADI.

  3. That’s a very small-market way of looking at it. Hundreds of thousands of Caribbean-Americans in South Florida likely cared that their home countries were in danger. Plus Andrew survivors know what a big deal a Cat 5 storm is, and could certainly relate to Dean in a unique way. WFOR likely did not want to spend money, because the new bosses are penny-pinching. The old management teams would have committed resources to this story.

  4. Andrews story was very well done. I know Brian thrives on this type of adventure. I also saw Brian’s piece was picked up by a number of other CBS Stations.
