They debuted this at 4pm today.
Calling a state of the art “Storm Center”. I’m not so sure whats so state of the art about it – a green chroma wall with lots of eye candy simulating a large screen for the map and a juicy 7 logo on the “floor” for Phil to walk on. On the other hand being able to see more of the map with Ferro further away from the camera is better.
What else?
It does looks nice although the fake monitors and off center map squished on the left gets annoying after a while.
i’m too busy to encode videos or post photos but you can head on to wsvn.com and watch the live feed to see it
Of course WFOR began calling their weather office “The Storm Center” the other day.
it is a bit much for me..liked the old set better. I find it distracting.
i am trying to watch here in boston and the live feed does not seem to work?
the new “storm center” is pointless, overly flashy, and down right annoying to be honest…phil looks small on it and they cameras cant move because if they did, then it would throw off the background.
the old set is still there…this is only for “storm” coverage..like today..
When you have no weather credibility, i guess you needs lots of flash and bells and whistles.
I saw it live, it looked liked they stole something off Fox News or whatever!
I believe this is only for Hurricanes and Tropical systems the other Weather Center or whatever it called is still there.
I like it.
Its modern, its now….
I love Elita on it.
Everyone else is so yesterday!
Ditto, Elita Admirer! 😉
I love that set. It’s gawgeous! It’s so flashy, modern, and looks high tech. But, like Admin said, they’re not fooling anyone, the monitors are fake, it’s able to tell it’s all an Ultimat!(Chromakey if you didn’t know)
It would be better if Elita broadcast naked! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!
The concept is not bad. I do think it can get a bit annoying at times. My sources say it is only used for tracking storms and that they still have their regular chroma key. They also say this new state of the art set is 3D and a bit more complicated to use. However, I have not seen any other station with such graphics. This makes WSVN stand out in my opinion. They are trying to get with the times and technology will only get better. You go 7!
During hurricane coverage 7 leads each newscast with 7 minutes of Phil in front of the chroma key wall, its informative but visually boring. This new “storm center” thing adds some needed eye candy to all the info. Its blatent flash but I’m all for it!
WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! you don’t have to see a meteorologist from head to toe, I liked the old graphics better
Right on Weather Storm, right on…
