WHDH losing 2 anchors, weathercaster, reporter

WSVN sister station in Boston WHDH has just releived itself from long-time anchor Chris May, and yesterday main co-anchor Caterina Bandini announced she won’t be returning to the station once she gives birth in the fall. WHDH is also losing one reporter, Ryan Owens and weekend meteorologist Chicage Windler. Recently WHDH also fired long-time chief weather man Todd Gross.

The Boston Herald quotes WHDH employees saying morale at the station is low ever since News Director Ed Kosowski left WHDH for a job at CNBC. They call the station “a sinking ship” and that everyone is looking to get out.

Departing main achor Caterina Bandini says the morale at station isn’t suffering and that in fact it’s “great” and that WHDH is a great place to work at.

Our 7News, WSVN, has so far remained stable with only Marilyn Mitzel being let go of not long ago allegedly because the station is moving in a new direction. Wether or not that means replacing more on-air personel remains to be seen.

  1. I kind of had a feeling this would turn into a disussion about Belkys….

Just have her swap positions with Lynn Martinez (sans the hosting duties of Deco Drive; Lynn’s good at that).

  2. I am saddened to learn that Marilyn Mitzel was let go. She did an outstanding job reporting interesting and useful medical information. I think someone needs to rethink that ” new direction” .. and send some of the other personalities on their way. Keep good journalism and good reporting on this station.
    Pleeeeeeeeeeze.
