  1. Didn’t get to catch it last night, but caught some video of the Lower 1/3ds on cbs4.com . Really better that what they used to have (which was a big mess).

Also noticed on CBS4 News Saturday Morning that part of their weather graphics changed. (upper right of the maps).

  2. they suck. the one piece of motion in the lower right near the logo is jerky and “jumps” when the loop starts over. very unsophisticated. but the wfor lower thirds do the same thing.

  3. WFOR/WBFS uses a Chyron Duet LEX which limits looped animations on supers or any graphic really to 6 seconds, which is the reason for the jump. On WFOR it is less obvious, but someone really should have made this loop more before going to air. Also, WFOR/WBFS does everything in house, so I’m pretty sure they are not Giant Octopus.

  4. the old wbfs gfx had seamless motion. not sure why they couldn’t do it this time. at the very least, couldn’t they have made the end point of the loop the same as the starting point, in order to avoid the jump? i don’t know anything about making gfx, but it seems like it would be better to have non-motion gfx than to do something that looks this bad.

  5. I beg to differ, Duet. The Duet Le has the limit of 6 seconds (180 frames). The LeX has a faster motherboard and more RAM, and allows much longer animations.
