WFOR – Jason Wheeler is leaving this month; Elizabeth Hart noon meteorologist has left the TV biz; Marybel Rodriguez will be a new mom

WTVJ – Tom llamas and ‘7News at 4’ producer /don’t know her name/ got married recently, they met and worked together at MSNBC

WPLG – Several tipsters have told me that WPLG are close to announcing they are moving the studios to Broward. For now the rumor is that they’ve selected a site in Pembroke Park. The date of completion is set for 2009

  1. yup.. They did mention at the 11 o’clock news…Makes me wonder if they might do away with news from west plam beacha and having local 10 go up there also???

  2. No going to happen of course
But I do remember a promo where they say “tri-county coverage” not sure if they were referring to the Keyes or what.
Besides the stations already cover South Palm Beach County Boca/Boynton area. The cable system up there still has WPLG on while Adelphia replaced WSVN with some local crap channel

  3. From the New York Daily News via TVSpy.com: Lonnie Quinn is one of 3 possible candidates to replace Sam Champion as lead forecaster for WABC/7. There is a God. Hope ABC covers Ritalin in its health insurance plan. Lonnie needs to turn it down MANY notches!

  4. No more Lonnie Quinn!!!!

Yeah! That would be the greatest change ever made at WTVJ (or any other station in South Florida). Lonnie must be the most annoying TV person around this neck of woods.

I love watching everyone at NBC6, but when Lonnie is on the air I mute my TV.

NYC please take Lonnie from us!!!!

We will supply the Ritalin for you.

  5. From the Sun Sentinel

    WPLG relocating to Broward

Broward County is getting its third major TV station. WPLG-Ch. 10 — “Local 10” — said Thursday that the station is relocating from its Miami headquarters, where its broadcasts have originated for 45 years, to Pembroke Park, on Hallandale Boulevard near near I-95.

WPLG follows WTVJ-Ch. 6, which moved from downtown Miami to Miramar in 2000. After NBC’s parent company acquired the Spanish-language Telemundo network, its local affiliate, WSCV-Ch. 51, also moved into the WTVJ facility in 2002.

WPLG, owned by Post-Newsweek, plans to build a new facility, with construction expected to take two to three years. The target date for the shift is late 2008-early 2009.

  6. Wonder who will replace Lonnie on the morning newscast. I wouldn’t have a problem with Trina Robinson 🙂

  7. I personally would. I think Trina’s a great reporter and a great anchor (and a great person) – but when it comes to weather, thats a whole different story. I personally think that if- Lonnie goes – then John Gerard should be the one to take over. I would like to see Trina anchor the Noon news w/Bob and do more feature stories like she used to (Living cheaper, ect….) Oh and I know everyone wants Lonnie gone, but I dont think that the ABC flagship station would put a non-metoroligist as their chief – that just dosen’t make sense!!!

  8. Time to reflect on the weather guy…keep in mind that Willard Scott went from playing Ronald McDonald…that David Letterman was a weekend weather guy back when Jane Pauley was the weekend news reader in Indy…that Bryant Gumbel went from sports to news and back to sports…that Matt Lauer used to read HBO Entertainment News between movies, and anchored “9 Broadcast Plaza” with Jennifer Valoppi before becoming Mr. Today. I guess the point is credentials really don’t matter to news producers. They would hire Osama Bin Laden to read scores if there was a number in it. The only upside is if Lonnie goes, I won’t have to wake up to him and contemplate throwing my remote through my Sony’s screen. Even Bob Mayer must be getting tired of him. Here is my dream…he fills in on GMA one morning and Ice Queen Diane Sawyer beats the crap out of him with his suspenders!

  9. Congrats to Jade, maybe her hubby-to-be will get her some better contact lenses so she isn’t constantly squinting at the tele-prompter 😀

  10. Lonnie isn’t going anywhere. WABC chose someone else. We have heard that the news director is out as of November.
