Guy Rawlins is leaving NBC6 and moving to WESH Orlando as the main sports anchor
Let’s celebrate another success story. Guy Rawlings is leaving NBC 6/WTVJ to assume the primary sports anchor position at WESH in Orlando. Guy first joined
WTVJ 10 years ago as a sports reporter. He soon became the sports anchor for the WB and weekend sports anchor for NBC 6. Guy has been instrumental in covering some of the biggest highlights in South Florida Sports – the championship wins for the Heat, Marlins and Panthers. Let’s not forget coverage of the Hurricanes – the team on the field and of course the storms of 2004 and 2005.Guy’s first assignment with WESH begins in January – covering his beloved Florida Gators in the National Championship in Arizona.
As a result of Guy’s departure, Adam Kuperstein will assume weekend sports anchoring duties.
well mathra and guy up at WESH. they are lucky
If enough people try to get WESH on stream down here, NBC might get it?
I see that he’ll be reuniting with is former NBC 6 collegue Martha Sugalski. My guess is that he’s 1 of the latest news personality to be cut by NBC’s budget cuts.
Guy will be missed. Orlando is fortunate!
I can hear the change ringing that NBC is saving!!
Who is guy rawalings?
P.S. Admin – it’s RawlinGs
Once WTVJ had the best sports…Segreto, Goldberg and Ned Smith. Guy Rawlings (in spite of being a Gator!) was the best WTVJ had. Joe Rose is a hack and Adam Kuperstein is a punk. But then look at 10. Only Cefalo shines, John Henry Smith uses his hands more than a weatherguy and Will Manso…well. 7 always sucks. 4 is #1 right now. Jim Berry is smooth, Jill Martin knows her stuff and is a knockout and Kim Bokamper is that rare ex-jock who works at getting better on camera (unlike Mandich, Rose, etc.) Good luck again, Guy, and give Martha a big hug for me, OK?
Funny, I met Guy a few years back, and he always doubted himself-as far as his talent was concerned. So I hope he does well in Orlando. But isn’t the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market hotter than Orlando? And is Guy still married to Deco Drive reporter Michelle Phizer?
Miami is a better market yes – but from what I here the Sports Director at WESH (Pat Clarke) wants to lighten his load to spend more time with his family, so Guy will be the main sports guy there. Its probably more money and with what is going on at WTVJ – I dont blame him for wanting to get out. But my question is, has he left yet?? B/C he wasnt on at all this weekend and there was no mention on Sports Final that he was off that night.
