  1. This is great news! WPLG was foolish to lose Doug. He should be Dwight’s replacement. I can see him next to Laurie Jennings anchoring the evening and night newscasts.

Welcome home Doug. We missed you.

  2. This is the best news I’ve heard. How many hires does 10 need before Kristi gets canned? I’m guessing Dwight stays at 6 but Doug and Laurie team up at 11. How about begging Chuck Dowdle too?

  3. Dunbar was midday DJ on Y-100 so you know he’s good. But seriously he wasnt bad. Why stop with Chuck Dowdle? Let “holographic Ann Bishop, Walt Cronise and Molly Turner” do the 6pm newscast. Glenn Rinker could do the 11pm with “young Dwight” (circa McDuffie riots). Wonder how long before that Conable fanatic posts that WPLG should become sleepy eyed JOEL TV

  4. Watch it Mr. Furley…you should go back to California and keeping track of what Jack, Janet and Chrissy are doing in your apartment building.

I’m the ONE and ONLY Joel Connable Fan and the idea of having an all JOEL TV network is not a bad one. He would outdo anyone at sleep WPLG. He is the best answer to TV news in South Florida.

Think of that WPLG should bring back their famous “The One and Only” and just change it a little to stay “The One and Only Joel Connable TV”.

All kidding aside, I am happy to hear that Doug Dunbar may be returning to South Florida TV.

    • Is Doug originally from Florida? What part? Love Doug. Use to watch him and Karen Borta every night in Dallas. Hope he comes to CBS in FL. Will feel more at home!!!

  5. Doug was a real professional on Channel 10 and great on the air in my opinion. Always felt he got the shaft at Channel 10 when they went more for Will Manso and Matt Lorch over him.
But I’m thinking that if Tom Doerr is indeed the new GM at WFOR as is rumored, Dunbar might be heading in that direction since they are pretty tight…and they worked in the same market in Houston after both of them left Miami (and Channel 10). I have no inside info in this regard, just speculating.

  6. That Raplh Furly guy is a real ass. I bet he’s really ugly. Maybe he should anchor the news. Maybe Joel has interesting eyes, what would you guys hate chinese people on tv. What prejudice, shallow people. Do you realize his weekend newscats are the highest rated newscasts in this market. He beats every other station fairly consistantly.

  7. wow, i’m an “ass” and “ugly”? I’m prejudiced because of some good natured ribbing of the JOEL TV afficiando? What does JOEL TV have to do with “chinese people on tv”? perhaps you could use a few cold ones down at the Regal Beagle.

What happens to Eliott Rodriguez if Dunbar comes to WFOR?

  8. OK, lay off Mr. Furley please. Maybe you should change your name to “Jack Tripper.” I think the question is what happens to Robb Hanrahan. I don’t think Elliot needs to go anywhere, but is Robb driving again yet?

  9. I find it odd that no one has mentioned “What will happen to Jorge Estevez?” In my opinion, he’s the most easily expendable.

  10. I heard George Estevez was up for the main anchor position. He shold be on the 5 at least – He’s been telling people at CBS that he is being promoted and may take the main chair one day.

  11. OK, Estevez is a nice guy, but he lacks that “gravitas” I got used to from news readers. Which means he would be an excellent choice to supplant Craig Stevens someday. I am also sorry to say this, but I miss the all-female morning news on 4/33. Will someone please find another market for Angela Rae, move out Jorge and bring in Liv Davalos and give me back my happy morning show?

  12. I don’t think Estevez belongs on the five at all, at all, at all. And I too miss the “4 great reasons to watch South Florida’s Hottest Morning Newscast.”

  13. I grew up In south Florida watching Doug Dunbar. I love him! After living around the US I ended up in a small town outside of Ft.Woth Texas. I was flipping through the news channels and there was Doug on the nightly news! I felt like I was back home again!
